Biography

As the Statewide Director of the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources 4-H Youth Development Program, I provide visionary leadership for the implementation and evaluation of the program and am responsible for creating and implementing strategies and programs to support the growth and development of 4-H members, volunteers, and professionals. I connect my work to the latest research on positive youth development, and collaborate with Strategic Initiatives, Program Teams, Workgroups, academics, program staff and Cooperative Extension offices in fostering research and program delivery in California. I provide leadership and oversight to 4-H Advisory Committees, the Military Partnership Program, and in the content areas of STEM, Healthy Living, Civic Engagement, and College & Career Readiness. I develop and coordinate revenue generating opportunities to support 4-H, and develop, interpret, and implement UC policies related to 4-H. Primary clientele are 4-H professionals, county directors, and 4-H adult volunteers who, in turn, deliver programs to meet the needs of young people across the state.

I am a 1987 graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point with a BS in Elementary Education with an Outdoor Education emphasis, and a 1991 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a MS in Outdoor Education.
