Volunteer Spotlights

Reeann, Madera County

Reeann
The Horse Expo is a unique event in Madera County, and Reeann has dedicated countless hours to honing the practical and academic skills of the 4-Hers attending this event. Because of her efforts, each club now has adequate study materials for this event, including feed kits and equipment study CDs. Furthermore, as a project leader Reeann has inspired many Horse Project members to take their skills to the state level; recently, Madera County's first team competed and won first place at the State Horse Competition.

Reeann's influence goes beyond the Horse Project and into other livestock projects. She is a vital contributor to the Large Animal Expo, which includes Beef, Dairy, Sheep, Swine, and Goats. The sacrifices she makes to be able to volunteer her time at these events is an inspiration to those around her, both adult volunteers and 4-H members.

Reeann has an uncanny ability to assess situations and calmly address issues, something that is vital to her volunteer work in the 4-H program and her years as a charge nurse at the Children's Hospital. Being a Registered Nurse was important to her 4-H members, as her gentle and practiced hand made it easy for them to learn the proper way to give injections to their animals.

Reeann won a Golden Clover Award in the category of Keith Barnes - Volunteer of Excellence. She recently moved to Texas, and the many 4-Hers she has influenced in Madera County will miss her and her wonderful, positive attitude.
