Volunteer Spotlights

Ashlyn, San Luis Obispo County

As a Solano County 4-H Ambassador, California 4-H State Ambassador, and adult advisor of the California Technology Team, Ashlyn has found numerous ways to take on leadership roles within the 4-H Youth Development Program. Her work has reached out to people throughout the state, and her work in filmography has publicized 4-H to countless people.

Ashlyn's achievements as a California 4-H State Ambassador in the 2007-2008 term included her planning at a state-wide level, and she took on a large leadership role by organizing the program at the State Leadership Conference. She further expanded her influence by becoming a mentor to the next year's State Ambassador Team. She also participated in the National 4-H Council in Maryland.

Integrating technology into 4-H activities is a slow and difficult process, but Ashlyn has made remarkable achievements in this area. She is comfortable taking vital behind the scenes roles at the State Leadership Conference, acting as technical support, or being front and center and creating 4-H promotional videos. To date, she has produced over eight videos and started the State 4-H Film Festival at the 2010 State Leadership Conference.

Ashlyn was a 2010 recipient of the Golden Clover Award in the category of Special Events and Activities for her dedication and innovation in bringing new technology to the 4-H Youth Development Program.
