4-H members may submit two photographs in various categories.
State 4-H Film Festival (pre-registration required)
Video is a medium that is both an art and a science. 4-H has been using video to promote various aspects of the program and recruit new volunteers and members. Join the members of 4-H who have already contributed to the videos on the CA 4-H YouTube channel!
4-H Robotics Competition (pre-registration recommended)
Robotics can spark a youth’s interest and imagination or can be a stepping stone to a better understanding of core school subjects that can lead to rewarding careers in STEM related fields. Also, robots are FUN!
NEW!! 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl (pre-registration required)
Teams of 4-5 youth ages 14-19 compete in this buzz-in style quiz contest. Test your knowledge in swine, sheep, beef, goat, poultry, rabbit, dairy and small animal production, and current events in the livestock industries. This contest is designed to stimulate learning in a variety of livestock topics and qualifies a team to compete at the National Level in Denver, CO.
Drop-in Activities (no pre-registration required)
Having an entomology project informs not only 4-H members but the public on how important insects are to our everyday life.
The objective of judging in the 4-H program is to help members grow in their ability to think, reason, and make logical and scientific judgments. Judging is about making choices and decisions. In each class, youth rank four items based on a standard; typically ten classes. There will also be a small non-competitive Primary Division for Primaries to get judging experience. They will receive a certificate of participation and a participation ribbon.
State 4-H Plant Science Contest
The contest is organized into three parts: judging, plant identification, and written test. The four highest ranking senior 4-H members are qualified to participate in the national contest.
In the morning, 4-H members may submit their logo design for the following year’s Field Day. In the afternoon, 4-H members vote on their favorite design.
Primary 4-H'ers are ages 5 to 9 years old. Age-appropriate activities help keep them included and engaged in State Field Day!
4-H Robotics Drop-in Activities
Drop by the Robotics area to get hands-on with robots! Program a Scribbler 2 robot to complete a challenge on one the game boards (we will show you how).
