California 4-H offers a Recognition Opportunities (thematic recognition pin) for youth who participate in State Presentation Day and focus their presentations on the specified STEM theme.

Science or Engineering Presentation
The new 4-H Presentation Manual - Revised October 2016 outlines a new category for science presentations or engineering presentations. A science presentation focuses on making sense of the world by constructing knowledge and an engineering presentation focuses on finding suitable solutions to problems by weighing design choices. Journal of Emerging Investigators
The Journal of Emerging Investigators is an open-access journal that publishes original research in the biological and physical sciences that is written by middle and high school students. JEI provides students, under the guidance of a teacher or advisor, the opportunity to submit and gain feedback on original research and to publish their findings in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

USA Science and Engineering Festival
The Science Festival is the nation’s largest celebration of all things science & engineering and features over 2,000 hands-on activities and over 150 performances. There are satellite events hosted in California! Search for an event near you at
