4th H for Health Challenge

Healthy Kids Out of School, an initiative at the Tufts University School of Nutrition has worked closely with 4-H leaders in New England to develop and pilot the 4^th H for Health Challenge, a free program that supports healthy 4-H club meetings (e.g. drinking water and incorporating physical activity).

The Challenge has been a huge success in helping 4-H’ers practice healthy habits. 4-H members and their clubs from across the country have participated in the Challenge and it is now available to California 4-H. Below are some materials to help California 4-H Clubs participate in the 4^th H for Health Challenge.

The 4-H Cooking Challenge is taking a hiatus in 2018. We hope to bring the event back in 2019. 

 

Healthy Living Opportunities at State Field Day

Special Recognition at 2012 State Presentation Day

A special recognition pin will be awarded for youth who participate in State Presentation Day and focus their presentations on healthy living. This year’s focus area is healthy food. Potential topics may include USDA’s MyPlate, serving sizes, sugar-sweetened beverages, nutrition facts labels, preparing a healthy meal on a budget, food groups, nutrients, healthy snacks, whole grains, food safety, dairy products, dietary fiber, and more.
