Mission & Purpose

Camp programs vary in their purposes and their philosophies in working with young people.  While 4-H camps may offer a variety of activities and serve different age groups, a common philosophy creates the foundation for what happens in a 4-H camp experience.  When camp administrators and staff understand the 4-H mission, they can be mindful of how to build a safe, high-quality program to achieve certain outcomes.  They know their program goals and when they achieve them.

In order to assess your awareness of your camp’s mission and purpose, please answer each question below. After you have completed this assessment, you will be directed to a website where you can get additional resources to help you expand your skills, knowledge and abilities in 4-H’s mission and purpose, and how to integrate them into your camp program.
