Spotlight-Jackson
Llamas, sheep, goats, ducks, ostriches, emus, chickens, peacocks, guineas, rabbits, turkeys, a cow, a horse and a donkey!  Can you imagine owning such a diverse array of animals?  For Jackson of Stanislaus County, these animals served as inspiration to join 4-H and increase his knowledge.

Jackson has become very involved in the rabbit project.  He currently has several breeding pairs, ranging from racy Rhinelanders and English Spots to compact Polish and Netherland Dwarfs.  He plans on creating a breeding program with the ultimate goal of winning a best in show.  Jackson is confident he can attain that title, but he may have to condense his breed variety in order to focus on only a few lines.

Jackson has also gained experience and knowledge in his other animal projects, namely swine and poultry.  He is raising two pigs this year, testing the theory that pigs do better with companionship.  He hopes that at least one will do well in the fair and auction.

Aside from these animal projects, Jackson also enjoys shooting sports and welding. He is slowly improving in shooting sports, but he has discovered a passion for gas welding this year.  He is currently attempting to convince his parents that he needs a gas welder at the house!
