Spotlight-John
Who knew that a keyboard could be made out of cardboard, paper clips, and a battery?  John, a four-year member of 4-H, made such a keyboard in his electronics project!  His keyboard won ribbons in the county fair as well as the state fair.  John also plans to design his own rocket in coming years, as he has enjoyed success with rockets made from kits.  John’s involvement in his 4-H club’s rocketry and electronics projects has led him to become interested in an aerospace career in the future.

Although John discovered a passion for electronics, he initially joined 4-H in order to learn about rabbits.  He is now a member of a winning rabbit knowledge bowl team.  4-H has taught him to, “study for knowledge bowls before they occur, and practice, practice, practice!!!”  John plans to breed his rabbit and continue practicing showmanship.

Public speaking is another 4-H activity which has also helped John grow.  John’s first public speaking experiences stemmed from project reports at 4-H club meetings.  He now feels comfortable giving county-level presentations.  Setting goals has allowed him to become more dedicated.
