Drew, Los Padres 4-H Club, Santa Barbara County

Spotlight-Drew
Drew loves rocketry!  He has been the junior leader of his favorite project, aerospace and rocketry, for two years: “4-H has made me a better leader by giving me the opportunity to help lead the rocketry club.”  As part of his junior leader duties, Drew gave multiple demonstrations about different types of rockets and created a PowerPoint presentation about Apollo 13.  Along with his rocketry project, he made pop rockets out of film canisters, Alka-Seltzer, and water.  In addition, Drew has launched multiple rockets at the Endeavor Center.  Drew also enjoyed the county-wide aerospace campout, where he learned about many aspects of space and technology.  Drew states, “I like rocketry because I am able to build, imagine, and launch things which I would not regularly get to do.”

Drew is very involved in other aspects of 4-H aside from rocketry.  He is the treasurer of his club, and he participates in the citizenship, leadership, pets and small animals, dog, and communication projects.  His next goal is to become a junior leader for the communication project.  Drew is definitely an experienced public speaker; the skills he acquired in the communication project were useful when the local news station interviewed him about the space campout.

For the future, Drew plans to continue setting goals and hopefully achieving them!  He is proud that, “4-H opens many doors of opportunity to me.”
