With five roosters, seven hens, one cat, two horses, and nearly 100 rabbits, Austin’s seven years in the 4-H program have allowed him to interact with many, many animals! Austin and his animal menagerie currently live in Sacramento.

Needless to say, Austin’s projects have revolved around animals.  He began his 4-H career in the reptile project with the Natoma Roberts 4-H Club.  He continued his involvement with reptiles for two years before moving on to the Clover 4-H Club’s rabbit project.  During his first few years, this project remained Austin’s primary focus, allowing him to work with nearly 100 rabbits and compete in showcases held as far away as Reno.

During his fifth year in the 4-H program, Austin began his work in the horse project.  “I grew up with horses because my mom worked with them, and she decided to start the Horse Project last year,” he says.  Austin and two of his peers became teen and junior leaders and won many awards this past year.

“4-H has been a great experience this year and I can’t wait for the next,” exclaims Austin.
