Shelly’s third year of 4-H was full of fun and memories!  One of her favorite 4-H activities this year was the poultry project.  Shelly loved eating farm-fresh eggs.  Also, the Americauna chicken’s blueish-green eggs fascinated Shelly!  This year, she raised her own chicken named Crackerjack.  Shelly helped other kids learn about chickens at McKinley Elementary and at Bernal Ranch.

Shelly had lots of fun in the scrapbooking project.  She enjoyed working with her friends to complete albums.  This year, Shelly learned more advanced scrapbooking techniques, such as cropping with a circle cutter.  Shelly furthered her artistic involvement by serving as her 4-H club’s photographer.  She took pictures of events and project meetings.

Shelly also became a member of the beekeeping project.  She enjoyed learning about bees.  Shelly was amazed that she could feel vibrations when she stood close to the hive.  “Honey is one of the delicious bonuses of being in the Beekeeping Project,” says Shelly.  She plans to remain in the Beekeeping project.  Her goal for next year is to plant sunflowers for the bees.

All of Shelly’s projects have helped her learn and grow.  Her love of 4-H is obvious!  Shelly asks, “What’s eggstra special, doesn’t crop my lifestyle, gives me picture perfect memories, and keeps me buzzing about?”  Her answer: “4-H!”
