Evan, Nipomo 4-H, San Luis Obispo County

Evan’s third year of 4-H was a great one!  He joined the archery project, citing Legalous the elf as his inspiration.  Evan was one of the older members.  He shot from between 60 and 70 feet.  Although the weather prevented frequent meetings, Evan enjoyed improving his technique while hanging out with his friends.

Evan was also in the sheep project.  He raised a market lamb named Jeffrey.  “Jeffrey is very calm.  He walks well, braces well, and gains weight like I want.  I like working with him and improving my showmanship skills,” says Evan.  Evan is looking forward to the California State Fair as well as local shows.

Aside from his project involvement, Evan loves to participate in community service.  He collected Toys for Tots and donated food to a local women’s shelter.  Evan also chaired a committee which organized the White Box exchange, where 4-H members can trade used 4-H uniforms.  This year, Evan ran for activities director and won!  He is excited to begin his duties and share his ideas.  Along with his club office, Evan wants to join a cooking project next year.
