Spotlight-Tristan
Tristan helped lead the goat project as a junior leader this year.  He taught the newer members about proper feeding, milking, and showing techniques.  Tristan enjoyed taking his goat to the local preschool as a community service project.  At the fair, Tristan won 5th place in senior showmanship with his shy goat Butters and later sold him.

Tristan was also involved in the automotive project.  “Mostly we learned general maintenance like how to check all the fluids and how to do a safety check,” he explains.  However, the group took several fieldtrips as well.  Tristan’s favorite memory was when, “I got to ride in a Tesla Roadster, and it was a lot of fun and great bragging rights, even though the ride was only about 50 feet.”

Although Tristan says he “failed epically” at Presentation Day, he had a lot of fun in the demonstration project.  At meetings, he worked on his public speaking skills with impromptu exercises.  This project helped Tristan prepare a demonstration about shaving a goat.

Tristan attended the CAL (Creating a Leader) Conference for the second year.  He participated in six leadership sessions, including stress management and meeting facilitation.  Tristan thought it was, “more fun than last year,” and he especially enjoyed the dance.

Tristan had a very successful year in 4-H.  He raised his goat Butters and a few chickens, and he was involved in the demonstration and automotive projects.  “At the May general meeting,” Tristan says, “I ran for Treasurer and crushed my opponent. I was unopposed.”  Along with his new title of treasurer, Tristan just bought a pig to raise for his next year in 4-H.  Tristan’s future goals include: “get a gold star (not necessarily next year), raise a pig, take it to fair and not get impeached as treasurer.”  With his great sense of humor and his can-do attitude, Tristan is sure to achieve these goals!
