The annual 4-H State Leadership Conference brings together youth from across California for leadership training, networking, and a memorable learning experience.

This year the conference will be held at UC Davis, one of the top public universities in the United States. The 5,300-acre campus is in the city of Davis, a vibrant college town of about 68,000 located in Yolo County.

Who can attend

What you will learn and do

  • Advanced leadership training.
  • Network and share ideas with other 4-H'ers from across the state.
  • Experiential education on leadership development, civic engagement, college admissions and other 4-H project areas.
  • Experience a slice of college life: live in the residence halls, eat in the dining commons, and participate in educational sessions, many of which are taught by University of California faculty and staff.

Volunteer Opportunities

The California State Leadership Conference (SLC) is a tremendous undertaking organized by a team of dedicated leaders and members. The conference is organized by the State Ambassadors, Adult Advisors and the SLC Planning Committee, but could not be accomplished without help from the Technology Leadership Team and the SLC Support Group.

Program Assistants

Program Assistants are 4-H Alumni who help the youth delegates to have the most amazing leadership experience possible. Applications are due March 31st.

SLC Workshop Presenter

Do you have a workshop that you want to present at SLC? Then submit a workshop proposal!  Proposals are due March 24th.

SLC Support Group

Support Group applications are now open! Teen leaders participate in the implementation of State Leadership Conference through the SLC Support Group. Check out the Support Group Job Description. Applicants must be eligible to attend State Leadership Conference. Applications are due April 15th.

SLC Planning Committee

The entire conference is planned by the SLC Planning Committee - a team of high school-aged 4-H members and adult volunteers. Working in strong youth-adult partnership, they design the educational, recreational and logistical components of the conference.

See what you have to look forward to!

Chaperone Information

Adult volunteers are key to making this a safe and memorable activity. Having dedicated adult chaperones who commit themselves to the safety and well-being of the youth participants during the entire event (24 hours a day!) is a HUGE commitment. Thank you for considering serving in this capacity.
