NEW! 4-H Robotics Competition (pre-registration recommended) REGISTER by May 14, 2018.
Robotics can spark a youth’s interest and imagination or can be a stepping stone to a better understanding of core school subjects that can lead to rewarding careers in STEM related fields. Also, robots are FUN!
Drop-in Activities (no pre-registration required)
Having an entomology project informs not only 4-H members but the public on how important insects are to our everyday life.
The objective of judging in the 4-H program is to help members grow in their ability to think, reason, and make logical and scientific judgments. Judging is about making choices and decisions. In each class, youth rank four items based on a standard; typically ten classes. There will also be a small non-competitive Primary Division for Primaries to get judging experience. They will receive a certificate of participation and a participation ribbon.
State 4-H Plant Science Contest
The contest is organized into three parts: judging, plant identification, and written test. The four highest ranking senior 4-H members are qualified to participate in the national contest.
In the morning, 4-H members may submit their logo design for the following year’s Field Day. In the afternoon, 4-H members vote on their favorite design.
Primary 4-H'ers are ages 5 to 9 years old. Age-appropriate activities help keep them included and engaged in State Field Day!
NEW! 4-H Promotional Advertising Contest
Create an ad to promote 4-H! Use your creativity to create an ad for use in print or online on websites and social media.
NEW! 4-H Robotics Drop-in Activities
Walk-in robotics participants are welcome! There will be an inventory of Scribbler 2 Robots and training available for the Entry Level Course. We want to make robots available so many people can be successful.
About California 4-H State Field Day
The annual California 4-H State Field Day is the largest and most comprehensive educational event for 4-H youth members and 4-H volunteer educators. Since 2002, 4-H'ers from throughout the state have come together to compete at the state level for various competitions. This family-friendly event is for all ages to participate.
Each contest and activity is coordinated by 4-H volunteers and youth. Event coordination and facility support is provided by the State 4-H Office.
The goal of the event is to provide a culminating experience for 4-H members in their year-long 4-H education in public speaking, textiles, plant sciences, photography, interview skills, and entomology.
